24 Hours in Oxford, UK: Wine, Exploration, and Unforgettable Views

After a crazy drive from Hay-on-Wye, I finally arrived in Oxford, eager to explore this historic city. We kicked off our adventure at Popina by Lynrace Wine Bar and Cheese, where we enjoyed some delightful wine and cheese. It was the perfect way to unwind after the long journey, savoring delicious snacks while soaking in the cozy atmosphere.

A Restful Night

After our little wine and cheese party, we headed back to our Airbnb to get some much-needed rest. We knew we had a packed day ahead, so we settled in for the night, dreaming of all the sights we would see the next day.

Morning: Exploring the Covered Market

Bright and early, we woke up and made our way to the Covered Market, a bustling hub of local food vendors, artisan shops, and cafés. The atmosphere was vibrant, and we loved wandering through the stalls, sampling fresh pastries and local delicacies. It was a great way to kickstart our day and get a taste of Oxford’s culinary scene.

Stunning Views from St. Mary the Virgin

Next, we headed to the University Church of St. Mary the Virgin. Climbing to the top of the tower, we were rewarded with breathtaking views of the city and the iconic spires of Oxford. The panoramic sights were nothing short of stunning, and we took plenty of photos to capture the moment. It was a highlight of our trip and a reminder of the city’s incredible history.

Afternoon: Christ Church and Blackwell's Bookstore

From there, we made our way to Christ Church, one of the most famous colleges in the University of Oxford. We took a guided tour, exploring the grand dining hall and beautiful gardens, soaking in the rich history and stunning architecture. After the tour, we couldn’t resist stopping by Blackwell's Bookstore. As book lovers, we were thrilled to browse through its extensive collection, picking up a few new reads to take home.

Wrapping Up Our Oxford Adventure

With our bags a little heavier and our hearts full of memories, we made our way back to London, taking the tube back after an unforgettable 24 hours in Oxford. From the relaxing evening with wine and cheese to the amazing sights we experienced, this trip was a perfect blend of exploration and enjoyment. I can’t wait to return to this charming city and uncover even more of its literary and historical treasures!
