Where We Stayed: The Westin Minneapolis

Our trip started on a high note with our stay at the Westin Minneapolis, an elegant hotel housed in a stunning historical building. The location itself was perfect, offering both convenience and comfort. We could easily walk to popular attractions and get a true taste of the city’s charm.

The moment we stepped inside, we were greeted with sleek modern décor combined with the building’s vintage character. The rooms were spacious, featuring all the amenities you’d expect from a high-end hotel, including comfortable beds and spacious bathrooms. We especially enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere, which made it easy to unwind after a busy day of sightseeing.

Exploring Literary History: The F. Scott Fitzgerald Walking Tour

One of the most memorable experiences from our trip to Minneapolis was the F. Scott Fitzgerald Walking Tour offered by the Minnesota Historical Society. As fans of Fitzgerald’s work, particularly The Great Gatsby, we were excited to immerse ourselves in the literary history of the city that shaped one of America's greatest authors.

The walking tour took us through the streets of St. Paul, Fitzgerald’s hometown, where we were guided by an expert who shared fascinating stories about his life and work. From the spot where he was born to the places that inspired his iconic novels, every stop revealed something new about Fitzgerald’s connection to the city.

What made this tour particularly amazing was how personal and intimate it felt. We weren’t just walking around a city, we were walking in the footsteps of one of the most influential writers of the 20th century. The guide delved into Fitzgerald’s early life, his relationships, and how the Twin Cities provided the backdrop for many of the themes in his works. It was incredible to learn how his time in Minneapolis and St. Paul influenced his writing.

The historical landmarks on the tour were well-preserved and easy to connect to Fitzgerald’s life, and the walk itself was at a comfortable pace, allowing us to soak in the history of the area. We even stopped by the Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul, a place named in honor of the writer, where you could feel the echoes of his literary legacy.

If you’re a fan of literary history or just appreciate a good story, the F. Scott Fitzgerald Walking Tour is an absolute must. It was an enriching and thought-provoking addition to our trip, and it gave us a deeper appreciation for the author’s work and the place that shaped him.
